Northern Marine Services (Scotland) Ltd were contracted by Allelys Heavy Haulage to provide a Cargo Surveyor and a Crane Superviser to assist with the move of four 270t transformers from Scrabster Harbour to Spittal substation, south of Thurso. There were also four 270t transformers that came in to Buckie Harbour and were taken to Blackhillock substation near Keith. The transformers were offloaded from chartered vessels before being taken to site. The trip from Buckie to Blackhillock was only 15 miles but took over 6 hours. Once at site they were jacked and skidded into position.
NMS have many years of Cargo Surveying experience gained worldwide and were able to provide a Cargo Surveyor to check and monitor the operations and the state of the transformers throughout the discharge operation and the transport to site and report back to the client. We also have CPCS Appointed Persons, Crane Supervisers and Slinger/Signallers so we were able to provide Allelys with competent, qualified and experienced personnel to help
